Ocean Games welcomes swimmers of all levels from novice to elite athletes. Depending on your experience we offer a 9-mile open water swim, 3-mile open water swim, and a 3-person 9-mile relay along the beautiful eastern shore coastline in Ocean City, Maryland. View map of the course.
9-Mile Swim
The 9-Mile swim starts at 10:00 AM. Depending on the current the day the race will either start or finish at Caroline Street and 145th Street. Time limit is 7 hours. Please read the Rules & Regulations.
To qualify for the 9-mile open water swim, registrants must have completed a 3-mile open water swim or greater in the last two years, or a documented Ironman Triathlon race. Qualifications must come from a certified race. Proof of completion must be submitted to Ocean Games no later than July 2, 2024.
All swimmers are required to have an escort kayaker for the 9-mile swim.
9-mile swimmers and Kayak pilots are required to attend the Mandatory Safety meeting the night before the event. Dinner included.
9-Mile Relay Swim
The 9-mile relay swim is a two (2) or three (3) person team. For the two-person team, at the start of the race, one person is the swimmer and one is the kayaker. For the three-person team, at the start of the race, one person is the swimmer and the other two team members are in a tandem kayak. Relays cannot have a dedicated kayaker. Swimmers can switch at any time. The race begins at 10:00 am. The race will start or finish at Caroline Street and 145th Street depending on the current that day. View map of the course.
3-Mile Swim
The 3-mile swim starts at 12:00 pm. Depending on the current that day the 3-mile swim will start at 94th Street and end at 146th Street or start at 46th Street and end at Caroline Street. Please read the Rules & Regulations. View map of the course.
To qualify for the 3-mile open water swim, registrants must have completed a 1-mile open water swim or greater in the last two years. Qualifications must come from a certified race. Proof of completion must be submitted to Ocean Games no later than July 2, 2024.
